Diabetic Katoacidosis is a condition caused in people, suffering from diabetes when the body stops using sugar as a fuel because of lack of insulin and starts using fat as well. The byproducts of fat breakdown called katones are built up in the system. This is the case in people with type 1 diabetes, because their organism suffers from lack of insulin which can help dissolve sugar for fuel for the cells and fat is broken down instead. Since the fat has been excessively broken down the ketones are released. In increased amount ketones are highly poisonous. Diabetic Kateoacidosis can be one of the early signs of type 1 diabetes in people which have not yet developed other symptoms.
The usual causer of this condition in people with diagnosed diabetes is illness, injury or recent surgery. Another cause can be missed dosages of insulin required daily.
The common symptoms of diabetic katoacidosis include quick deep breaths, dry month and skin, nausea, flushed face, vomiting and stomach ache. Additional symptoms are decreased appetite, abdominal pains, loss of consciousness or coma, fatigue, muscle stiffness or headache.
Diabetic Katoacidosis is treated by correcting the insulin levels in the body and replacing the fluids and electrolytes. If spotted early it can be treated at home. However, in most cases the treatment requires hospitalization.
Complications of this condition can lead to kidney failure in the most common cases. Other complications are dangerously low blood pressure and heart attacks as well as cerebral edema, which is basically fluid building up in the brain tissue.

Though there is no direct relation between diabetes and mental health of a person, there definitely will be an impact on the mental condition of a person due to diabetes.

There are several mental conditions that a person might go through when diagnosed with diabetes.

• Depression:
Since diabetes has no cure, many people tend to think that acquiring diabetes is like end of the world. Many people tend to go into depression thinking negatively of why they got the diabetic condition. However, if proper research is done on what diabetes is and its complications and treatment, there is in fact no matter of concern since diabetes can be easily kept under control just with right diet and healthy habits. People just diagnosed with diabetes should search through the net are talk to the regular physician to gain more information and diabetes and keep all concerns to rest. It might not be curable but it definitely can be controlled.

• Stress/Anxiety/Anger:
Why me? This is the first question that runs through a person’s mind when diagnosed with diabetes. There are several reasons, though most of them are not yet scientifically proven, that cause diabetes and most of them are not because of what we did. So, there is a very good chance that a person leading a healthy life can get diabetes. In such cases, the person can think that it’s all so unfair and can tend to gain anxiety/anger and stress sometimes. One should avoid such feelings since it only worsens the things. One should get relaxed and if required attend meditation to regularize the mind and body.

Diabetes, an inherited disease controlled by several genes at once, is caused due to body’s insufficient production of insulin, production of defective insulin or the incapability of the cells to use insulin properly.
Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas to control blood sugar. It causes cells in the liver, muscle and fat issue to take up glucose from the blood and store in them to act as fuel for the body.
Diabetes causes by the type of food we take. Several things happen when the food is digested. Most of the cells in the body need food for energy. A sugar called glucose enters the blood stream which acts as primary energy source for the body. This glucose is spread across various parts of body by insulin to act as fuel. When the body consists of very small amount of insulin to move glucose, then glucose levels enhance in the blood causing diabetes. Even if the body produces insulin but the cells do not respond to it, it causes diabetes. Diabetes is also due to both the conditions where the body does not produce insulin or doesn’t respond to insulin produced.
Some common causes of diabetes include genetic diabetes, inherited from ancestors and environmental factors. Environmental factors include poor diet, lack of exercise, obesity and stress. The risk of diabetes is higher when it is genetic.
Causes of diabetes consist of additional utilization of sugar and additional amount of refined carbohydrates. The additional causes of diabetes are because of insatiable eating, heavy and fatness. This disease builds up in all age groups but it is additional and common in between adult and middle aged people. So individuals must change their eating habits in the present day, there are a number of circumstances of this fatal disease compared to what was available in earlier days.

Diabetes is one among the various diseases that will have serious effects if it is not treated with care. Diabetes can occur in human beings in three different types. All the three types are very dangerous if they are not properly treated.
If good care is given to the diabetes patient by following the instructions given by the doctor properly, then it will not give rise to various other diseases like heart problems, eye diseases, stroke and also the erectile dysfunction that is mainly caused due to this.
Few of them will show out the symptoms at an early stage but few will show the symptoms only after the onset of diabetes. Hence, it is very important to know the blood sugar levels by attending the regular check ups. It is also important to ask the doctor as to which kind of diabetes is the person suffering from and to take the treatment accordingly.
If the individual has the type1 diabetes, then it is important to take insulin on each day. In case of type2 diabetes, the individual needs to take diabetes tablets that will help to control diabetes.
The individuals who are at high risk are the mostly at the age of 45 years. Individuals who are overweight will also have high chances of getting the diabetes.
Individuals who have high blood pressure and high amount of cholesterol levels and also who are very inactive, will get diabetes. If the mother has diabetes during pregnancy, then at such cases also there are higher risks of getting diabetes.

Some more treatments suggested for the woman with gestational diabetes are that if the level of blood glucose is not controlled by dieting and light exercise then the doctor will switch her on to some light dose of medicines initially and if necessary will increase the power or dose of the medicines in the later stages. In some cases the patient may also be put on insulin directly depending on the level of blood sugar.
Even the health of the baby and the woman with gestational diabetes should be checked regularly. The doctor will check the heart beat of the baby with the instrument called fetal monitor. With this instrument the heart beat of the baby can be easily heard, by just keeping the instrument on the abdomen of the mother. The mother to be will also have to go for the regular ultra sound sonography by which the health of the baby will be checked, is the growth of the baby is normal or not. In the later months the mother will have to go for Doppler study in which the doctor comes to know that the blood reaches properly to all the parts of the baby’s body. If everything is normal then the baby will be delivered after the completion of full term, but if there are some problems in sonography then the doctor will deliver the baby earlier depending upon the health of the baby and mother.
It is generally seen that the woman with high blood sugar level are capable of controlling their sugar level and giving birth to a normal and healthy baby.

A diabetic patient is not allowed to consume alcohol as it has many side effects. A person who is suffering from diabetes will experience many difficulties and taking alcohol will increase this difficulties. The important thing about a diabetic patient is to manage the sugar levels in the body but alcohol in any way will not help you to do this. Taking alcohol and food that has more fats show the same effect.

The alcohol will have a negative effect on the body of a diabetic. This can be clearly seen in the instance of a diabetes insipidus patient where alcohol plays a major role. The indications in connection with type 1 diabetes are same as in type 2 diabetes.

Alcohol and diabetes signs

Consuming a reasonable amount of alcohol may also helps to increase the levels of blood sugar as the carbohydrates that are included in drinks like wine and beer are mainly responsible for this. The following are some of the signs of this category.

•	Changes in the effect of dosages of insulin and other oral medications are observed in people who drink alcohol.
•	Consuming too much alcohol not only increases your sugar levels but also shows an adverse effect which is not considered as a common problem.
•	A person who consumes more alcohol is observed with increased heart rate, sickness and also finds difficulty in speaking.

Unlike other foods, alcohol does not subject to metabolism quickly but is metabolized by the liver as the alcohol gets in to the blood directly. The job of the liver which is to regulate sugar levels in blood gets interrupted with this additional work of metabolizing alcohol. So people should be very careful before they consume alcohol.
